Renewable Energy Research

CANMET - Energy Technology Centre - Varennes is a knowledge and technology provider. Its mission is to enable targeted sectors of the Canadian economy to reduce their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, use energy more sustainably and improve their ability to innovate.

Centre for the Analysis and Dissemination of Demonstrated Energy Technologies (CADDET) An international information network hosted by the IEA that ran from 1988 to 2005. CADDET was focussed on collecting renewable energy and energy-saving technologies that have worked in other countries. Although the CADDET and related websites are now shut down, the Canadian case studies are available at the website above. With a little digging, you can find CADDET-collected information from any IEA-member country, as each case studie and other technical information was transferred to the country where the projects originated.

Renewable Energy Policy Project supports the advancement of renewable energy technology. Since 1995, REPP has investigated the relationship among policy, markets and public demand in accelerating the deployment of renewable energy, which include biomass, hydropower, geothermal, photovoltaic, solar thermal, wind and renewable hydrogen. The organization offers a platform from which experts in the field can examine issues of medium-to long-term importance to policy makers, green energy entrepreneurs, and environmental advocates. In 1999, REPP acquired CREST whose mission was to educate the public on renewable energy, provide interactive software, and host renewable energy discussion groups ("Solstice" was the main website of CREST). Excellent resource library.

Electro-Federation Canada A national, not-for-profit industry association representing over 300 member companies, key players in the electrical, electronics and telecommunications industries in Canada.

National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL)  The U.S. Department of Energy's premier laboratory for renewable energy research & development and a lead lab for energy efficiency R&D. Excellent resource.
